Long Island Wins

Blog Closing Statements....

Professor Torras pointed out that it seems like the economic issues facing us now are not going away any time soon.

David Nyce said he has spent most of his life in fairly diverse areas where you don't have one-side against another side. The more diversity you have in the community, the less you realize that it's an issue and the more likely you are to succeed. He said people in Greenport didn't know they had an "immigrant problem."

David Verduin's closing word would be to remember we are dealing with people. Immigrants are human just like us and we should have compassion.

Matthew Crosson thinks solutions come from individuals who remember immigrants are people. Long Island will be at its best when we accept and embrace diversity.

Lisa, this is great. It really captures the remarks.

Thanks Pat! It was a great night. The only thing that I really wish is that more elected officials and members of the press would have come. I think our elected officials missed out on a panel that they could have used as a crystal ball...
