In the News A second vigil for Luis Ramirez

Shenandoah's mayor Thomas F. O’Neill participated in a vigil yesterday in support of healing the racial divide that led to the murder of Liuis Ramirez in July. The mayor's son spoke at the vigil about the uncaring way new Latino residents of the small Pennsylvania town are treated.

Although some community and religious leaders attended, organizers said they were disappointed by the low turnout of townspeople at the event.

I think people in general are fed up with the agenda of the illegal alien population.

There is a difference between "legal" and "illegal". How you got here DOES matter.

As a legal immigrant, I can attest that the US is unbelievably welcoming to immigrants and provides unlimited opportunities.

However, I can completely understand how people are fed up with the gate crashers who don't feel that they need to follow the rules, and put self-interest and personal economic wants ahead of what is right.

As much as I lament the needless taking of a life, I wouldn't be at the vigil either if it was held in my hometown.
