In the News Bill O'Reilly jumps to Steve Levy's defense

Bill O'Reilly of FOX has risen to Steve Levy's defense. Has Levy finally gotten the backing he needs to stand up to his critics? Sorry Steve.

Apparently Bill based his backing on Levy's Lying Stats. Here's what Bill says:

Immediately, The Times used that murder to demonize Suffolk County executive Steve Levy, who has led a crackdown on illegal immigration in his jurisdiction. But The Times failed to mention that on Levy's watch, hate crimes against Hispanics have dropped from 16 to one because Levy has been proactive in diffusing problems caused by criminal illegal aliens and exploitative businesses.

As every Long Islander knows, and Bill used to be a Long Islander, those stats were heavily doctored. And O'Reilly seems to think that most hate crimes against Latinos are committed by "criminal illegal aliens and explotative businesses". Or is he implying that those who commit the crimes are motivated by those factors?

Finally, Bill veers off into truly nutty territory at the end of his "Talking Points Memo". He says:

Finally, we send our condolences to the family of Marcello Lucero, who is in this country legally. But we must note that thousands of American citizens have been killed by illegal aliens, and we cannot find one New York Times editorial condemning that. Not one.

Apparently Lucero's family would not get Bill's welcome condolences if he (they?) were not in the U.S. legally. And that last line-WOW! Imagine following the killing of three civil rights workers in Mississippi back in the '60s a commentator had said that "The New York Times has condemned these murders, but have they condemned all the killings of White people by Blacks? Not a one".

Good Night and Good Luck.
