Friday there will be a large vigil at the train station in Patchogue organized by the local community and supported by the Long Island Immigrant Alliance. It will take place at 7pm.
I also just got word that St. Joseph's College in Patchogue will hold a vigil Thursday night at 6pm. Students at the school have worked with the local Latino Immigrant community for a number of years. Here is the school's release on this:
Dear All,
In response to the murder of Marcello Lucero in Patchogue this past weekend, St. Joseph's College will be holding a vigil in honor of the victim and his family on Thursday, November 13, at 6pm in the McGann Conference Room. The event is open to the public.
The college is also taking up a collection to help pay for repatriation and burial costs. Checks can be made payable to SJC - The Marcello Lucero Fund and sent to the Institutional Advancement office.
Further information on our event will be posted on the website tomorrow: www.sjcny.edu.
Please join us in solidarity.
