In the News Immigration Crackdowns Are Expensive

The Suffolk legislature, which is considering a crackdown on undocumented immigrants, might want to look at the experience in Prince William County, Virginia. That county has just kicked off a similar get tough policy and had to appropriate $800,000 just for start up costs. It is expected that the County will spend about three million dollars per year on its NoMex plan over the next several years.

With Suffolk facing a budget crisis and Levy looking at hiking taxes, it will be interesting to see how much money the legislature ponies up for Levy's dream.
