In the News IR 1105 restraining order is vacated. Vote likely Tuesday

The Temporary Restraining Order blocking a vote by the Suffolk Legislature on IR 1105 was lifted an hour ago. This means that the Legislature is free to vote on it at Tuesday's meeting. Persons wishing to speak out against the bill should arrive at the Legislature by 9:30 am and sign a card to speak at the "Public Portion".

The resignation today of Elie Mystal, an opponent of the bill, puts us at a one vote disadvantage. We urge you to call the following four legislators and tell them to oppose the bill:
:
Steve Stern 631-854-5100
Wayne Hosley 631-854-1100
John Kennedy 631-854-3735
Jay Schneiderman 631-852-8400

We still have a chance to beat this bill, but we need to pick up two of the four legislators named above. Use our toolkit for more info.

For what it's worth I put Tom Leo's message out on my e mail lists for the South Country Peace Group, the local Pax Christi Group as well as other secondary lists. I think the important thing (besides calling the offices of the above mentioned waivering legislators) is to have people get to the public hearings EARLY to get a place on Tuesday.

Thanks for your help sending out the action alert Dennis! Every new person we spread the news to is a step forward!
