Long Island Immigrant Alliance (LIIA) held a press conference today at which labor and religious leaders denounced the anti-immigrant IR 1105. Watch News12 tonight for coverage.
LIIA is calling for a mass turnout at the Suffolk Legislature Tuesday morning to protest the bill. Please arrive early and sign a card to speak at the "Public Portion" to denounce the legislation. Newsday is planning an in-depth treatment of 1105 this weekend.
There are discussions going on about alternative legislation to address some of the issues raised by 1105 without targetting immigrants.
Legal action to counter IR 1105 is also under consideration.
