In the News Suffolk Bill "pandering"

Newsday spanked the new anti-immigrant bill in the Suffolk legislature calling it "pandering" in an editorial this week. The editorial noted that Suffolk voters are suffering from hardships due to the ailing economy and that they need “real help, not the same old tired scapegoating of immigrants”.

IR 1105 is garnering some very real opposition. Civil liberties and immigrant rights groups denounced the bill before it was even introduced. Matt Crosson, head of the powerful Long Island Association, has already warned of the dire economic impact the bill would have if it were actually enforced. As other organizations understand the real danger of the bill to the economic and social structure of the county, many more will weigh in against it.

I will post daily updates on the fight to defeat this miserable piece of hate legislation. Comeback often!

[By the way: A couple of you have said that you were surprised that I haven’t posted for a week. Glad to see some folks are reading the blog. Long Island Wins, which hosts my postings, went through some staffing changes. I am temporarily editing the blog myself, so expect many mistakes until a real editor is hired. Anyway, I’m back online and longing for your attention.]
