Tens of thousands of Long Islanders at churches, mosques, and synagogues in both Nassau and Suffolk mourned the death of Marcelo Lucero this weekend. The Catholic Diocese focused its annual immigrant's mass on Lucero's life and the need for all of us to examine our own prejudices.
Every Catholic church this weekend offered prayers in Lucero's memory. The houses of worship of many other denominations did the same.
In related news, this story looks at why the upsurge in anti-Latino violence makes immigration reform more urgent, even as the economic downturn may backburner the issue.
Don't forget about our allies in the UU congregations. I know we spoke extensively about it at and after our service yesterday.

If ministers want to, it might be nice for them to post their prayers or sermons here in the comments section.
