We all now know that Matthew Crosson from the LIA has very little spare time (bio will follow)
He thinks it's important that people use Riverside as an example. These legislations give the appearances that the community is intolerant and hurt people in the pocketbook.
Used the example of Skokie, IL in 1978. Nazis had petitioned to march through the town, but the community filed a federal lawsuit and prevented it. However when he asked the room what they thought of when he said the word "Skokie, IL" everyone who was alive back then enthusiastically said "nazis." He worries that if that's the perceived notion of Skokie who prevented the march 30 years ago, what would the perception be of a town that passed legislation targeting a particular group.
