Long Island Wins, a public information campaign centered on immigration, is looking for freelance writers based in Nassau and Suffolk counties to report stories that highlight the economic, social, and cultural contributions of immigrants.

We are looking for writers to cover news, culture, and business, as each genre relates to immigration on Long Island. For example, freelancers might write a profile of a Irish immigrant fashion designer or a hard news piece on a coalition of Salvadoran restaurant owners.

Print stories will typically be between 400-600 words, but we also welcome freelancers who can report through video, audio, and photography.

Payment for stories will range from $40-70 depending on the amount of traffic generated by the post during its first week online. Specific details regarding traffic targets will be available to qualified candidates.

Freelancers should be based on Long Island and have experience in journalism. Recent college graduates, bloggers, and returning journalists are all encouraged to apply. Ideally, writers will cover stories based in their own communities.

Qualified candidates should send a cover letter describing their interest in immigration, a resume, and three clips to .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).

Long Island Wins is an equal opportunity employer.
