One in eight Long Islanders is living below the poverty line of $22,000 for a family of four. One out of nine Long Islanders seeks support at a soup kitchen or food pantry. People requesting assistance at the Food Pantry of the Congregational Church of Patchogue has increased to almost triple of what it was just three years ago.
