Irish Studies Program: Women and Irish Street Politics

Free Event: ‘This Could be Contagious’: Irish Women and Street Politics
Public Talk by Dr. Tara Keenan-Thomson
Time/Location: 4:30am-5:55pm, 246 East Wing, Axinn Library
Description: Dr. Keenan-Thomson will discuss her new book published by Irish Academic Press.
During the 1950s, ‘60s, and ‘70s, women on the margins of Irish political opinion worked to change their society. Their tactics shocked many who disagreed with their message. But these very tactics confirmed that a new generation of Irish women would no longer be content to help the cause. Instead they would lead it. Book sales and signing to follow.

Sponsors/Info.: Co-sponsored by the Women’s Studies Program and the Center for Civic Engagement.
