The event is a 10-minute walk from the Brentwood, LIRR stop. Este taller esta a 10 minutos caminando desde la parada “Brentwood” en el tren LIRR.

Long Island Immigrant Alliance, Make the Road New York, Long Island Civic Engagement Table, and the New York Civil Liberties Union are co-sponsoring a Know-Your-Rights workshop presented by the Immigrant Defense Project and the Northern Manhattan Coalition for Immigrant Rights on the deportation program known as “Secure Communities,” and other collaborations between local police and ICE. This workshop is for community members.

Come learn:

-What S-Comm is and how it works (including here in New York State!)
-How to protect your rights when dealing with the police and ICE.
-How you can get involved to spread knowledge in your community!

Alianza Inmigrante de Long Island, Se Hace Camino Nueva York, Mesa Cívica de Long Island, y la Unión De Libertades Civiles de Nueva York ofrecerán un taller de “Conocer Sus Derechos” presentado por El Proyecto de Defensa al Inmigrante y La Coalición del Alto Manhattan para los Derechos del Inmigrante acerca del programa de deportación llamado Comunidades Seguras, y otras colaboraciones entre la policía y inmigración. Este taller es para miembros de la comunidad.

Ven a aprender:

-Que es Comunidades Seguras y como trabaja (¡incluyendo aquí en el estado de Nueva York!)
-Como protegerse en encuentros con la policía y inmigración.
-¡Como se puede involucrar en difundir conocimiento en su comunidad!
