Newsday’s Carl MacGowan is covering the trial of Jeffrey Conroy, the Medford teen accused of stabbing and killing Marcelo Lucero in a hate crime.
According to MacGowan, a forensic scientist testified for the prosecution today, giving details about the trail of blood from Lucero’s wound. The trail stretched 370 feet, from the Patchogue train station parking lot to Funero Court, the abutting street where Lucero sat waiting for an ambulance after the alleged attack.
Donald Doller, a Suffolk County forensic scientist, testified that the trail started in a parking lot on the north side of the Patchogue train station, ran north on Railroad Avenue, then doubled back south and ended near a car parked on Funaro Court [sic].
Under questioning by Assistant District Attorney Megan O’Donnell, Doller also identified the knife that prosecutors say Conroy used to stab Lucero. The knife was not shown to jurors.
Court will not be in session tomorrow because the attorneys have other obligations, Judge Doyle said yesterday.
