After McLeer Read-Back, Jury Still Deliberating

For roughly three hours, the jury in the trial of Jeffrey Conroy heard a read-back of the cross examination testimony of detective John McLeer, the lead detective on the Marcelo Lucero murder case.

By the time Judge Doyle decided to “retire the jury”—to more deliberations, not to their homes—more than a few people in the courtroom appeared to be drowsy, including some members of the jury, Judge Doyle, and this reporter.

But since the testimony ended, the courthouse is again abuzz, with reporters and advocates speculating as to what might come next.
