Arizona State Senator Russell Pearce, Sponsor of SB 1070, Will Face a Recall Election

After Arizona’s anti-immigrant law SB 1070 passed last year, its sponsor, Arizona State Senator Russell Pearce, became the focus of a recall effort. On Friday, Arizona election officials certified that more than 10,000 signatures have been collected for recall – 2,000 more than were necessary. A recall election may be held as early as November of this year.

In addition to SB 1070, Pearce is also the sponsor of a controversial bill allowing students to carry guns on college campuses.
