Arpaio Readies Jail for Immigrants; Money Raised to Fight SB 1070

A concert and fundraising drive this weekend organized by Rage Against the Machine led to 300,000 dollars being donated to support the fight against SB 1070.

Meanwhile, with only four days left before the anti-immigrant law goes into effect, Sheriff Joe Arpaio showed off his new immigration jail to the media. The jail is little more than primitive tents surrounded by barbed wire. He says he is ready for 100 arrests the first day of SB 1070 enforcement. He will soon expand the jail, which he calls Section 1070, to house 500 people with brown skin.
