Beck: Why President Obama Hates White People; the Birthers; and Colbert

Yesterday Glen Beck referred to President Obama as a “racist” and claimed that the president has a “deep seated hatred for white people”. When challenged on this by one of the hosts of “Fox & Friends,” Beck said “I’m not saying he doesn’t like white people.”
Umm, Glen, you’re more of a wordsmith than I, but I think that when you say Obama hates white people, you are also saying he doesn’t like them.
Last night, Orly Taitz, the attorney/dentist/real estate agent linchpin of the birther brain trust was on the Colbert Report.

She repeated her claim that the U.S.-born children of immigrants cannot grow up to be president. Colbert responded:
“Parents have to be citizens. Now that may not be in the Constitution, but it is a basic fact taught to every school child growing up with Ms. Taitz in the Soviet Union.”
Colbert also took Taitz to task for her support for soldiers refusing to be deployed to war zones because they don’t believe Obama is legally the president. “Its good for our country for our soldiers to question the commander in chief,” Colbert said in mock approval. She responded by comparing Obama to Hitler and implied that widespread disobedience to Obama by the military is warranted.
Taitz ended by comparing Obama to Stalin.
All of this is likely to provoke more laughter than fear among my readers. Just more confirmation that the Republicans have moved from the mental hospital to the insane asylum over the last six months. Plenty of evidence of a party in terminal decline.
The problem is that while the Beck/birther agenda appeals to only a tiny sliver of the American electorate, that sliver is armed and angry.
And that sliver has been told by one of its spokesmen that the president is a racist who hates them. And that sliver has been armed with the certain knowledge that Obama is not the president, but a usurper. He is the victor in a silent coup carried out by a conspiracy so powerful that it has overawed the courts and enlisted the aid of the mainstream media in its plot to turn America into a Soviet-style hell.
We saw over the last year how the violent language adopted by the right towards undocumented immigrants as “invaders” hoping to annex parts of the United States to Mexico helped to radicalize unstable people to commit acts of hatred that have claimed the lives of at least nine people over the last thirteen months.
What kinds of dangerous acts are being hatched now in response to the patent lies of the birthers and the undisguised hatred of Beck and his confederates?
