Community Fair To Raise Census Awareness in Patchogue

The 2010 Census Community Fair will be held in East Patchogue on Sunday, May 23, from 1-5pm. The free event is meant to raise awareness about the importance of getting counted in the census.

The census is currently in the enumeration stage, where census workers reach out to those who did not fill out a form back in April, and groups—including the cast of “Saturday Night Live”—are trying to generate publicity for the effort. Scroll down for the “SNL” clip.

Foley, 2010 Census Initiative Patchogue-Medford Region, Bellport, Hagerman, East Patchogue Alliance, Inc., Fundación Lucero de America, Greater Patchogue Foundation, Inc., Patchogue-Medford Library, Village of Patchogue Community Development Agency

Local organizations attending include:
Bellport Double Dutch, Brookhaven Memorial Hospital, Brookhaven-Roe YMCA, Greater Patchogue Chamber of Commerce, Inc., LIAAC, Long Island Cares, Patchogue-Medford Library, Patchogue-Medford Youth and Community Services, and many more.

The census only happens once every 10 years.
