FBI To Continue Investigation Into Abuse In County Where Luis Ramirez Was Killed

Although Federal investigators have already arrested four Shenandoah police officers, including the police chief, in an inquest that grew out of the mob killing of Luis Ramirez, they are looking into other corrupt and abusive practices that may have occurred in the town and surrounding county.
The FBI has now established a tip-line for people to report corruption and police abuse in Shenadoah and Schuylkill County, where the town is located.
The FBI is asking anyone who may have information about alleged civil rights violations or public corruption in Schuylkill County to call FBI Special Agents Alan Jones or Anthony Cavallo at 610-433-6488.
Of course, every county has its Steve Levy:
County Commissioner Francis V. McAndrew, a former state trooper and county sheriff, called the FBI’s investigation “out of line” and said he is offended by it.
“This is not Luzerne County. This is Schuylkill County,” McAndrew said Wednesday. “Our elected officials are above reproach, and so are our judges. It sounds like they (the FBI) are making assumptions that because there is corruption in Luzerne County, it must be here, too. They’re going to find out that they’re wrong.”

Commisioner McAndrew, with all due respect sir, your DA says he suspected corrupt practices but he didn’t charge anybody. Four cops are under indictment in Federal court because the county did not inveestigate “its own”.
