Five More Jurors Selected in Trial of Teen Accused of Killing Marcelo Lucero

For the better part of the last two weeks, jury selection in the trial of Jeffrey Conroy—accused of stabbing and killing Ecuadorian immigrant Marcelo Lucero in Patchogue in November 2008—has moved slowly.

Breaking from that trend, five jurors were selected today, making that 12 jurors who have been selected thus far. Only four alternates remain to be chosen.

Considering the somewhat surprising news of today’s selection, it’s possible that the trial could begin as early as next week.

As I mentioned in my last post, several of Marcelo Lucero’s family members will not be able to attend the start of the trial because of visa problems.
