Fourth Defendant Pleads Guilty to Marcelo Lucero Murder

In a move anticipated by both prosecution and defense lawyers, Jordan Dasche, one of the seven teenagers accused of attacking and murdering Ecuadorian immigrant Marcelo Lucero in Patchogue in Nov. 2008, pleaded guilty to gang assault in the first degree this morning, according to Newsday’s Sumathi Reddy.

After Dasche entered the plea, Judge Robert W. Doyle stated that the 19-year-old would receive no more than 10 years in prison—a promise that Doyle also made to fellow defendant Kevin Shea, who pleaded guilty on Feb. 19.

Dasche pleaded guilty to other charges in addition to the gang assault charge, and you can scroll down to the bottom of this post to see the rest of the charges.

Jury selection for Jeffrey Conroy is set for March 2, but according to the district attorney’s office, that date is tentative, and will not be finalized until March 1.

In the run-up to the trial, I’ve been posting written statements from the defendants, as well as other evidence. Yesterday, I posted a copy of Jordan Dasche’s written statement, which he gave detectives after the attack. I’ve also posted statements from Kevin Shea and Jeffrey Conroy.
