Gov. Paterson Signs Domestic Workers’ Bill of Rights

Maids, nannies, housekeepers and other domestic workers have finally been included under New York’s state labor protections with the signing today of the Domestic Workers’ Bill of Rights by Gov. David Paterson. Backers of the law say that 200,000 domestic workers, a majority of whom are immigrants, will be covered by it. Locally, the Workplace Project was a major proponent of the bill.
