Homeland Security Report sees possible rise in rightwing extremism

A new report from the Department of Homeland Security raises concerns that current economic and political conditions may give rise to an increase in illegal and violent acts by rightwing extremist groups in the United States. Groups have been activated by the election of a non-White president, the lack of a clear military victory in the war in South Asia, and fevered concerns about immigration.
The Department of Homeland Security is particularly concerned that returning veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan may be targets of recruitment by armed self-styled militias.
