This morning I posted an update related to the trial of Jordan Dasche, one of the teens charged in the November 2008 killing of Ecuadorian immigrant Marcelo Lucero in Patchogue. The prosecution is currently pushing to have Dasche—who is charged with first-degree gang assault and fourth-degree conspiracy—tried alongside Jeffrey Conroy, who allegedly stabbed Lucero during the attack. Jury selection for Conroy is scheduled for March 1.
Minutes after the Lucero killing, Suffolk County police apprehended Dasche, along with the six other defendants. Detectives took a written statement from Dasche while in police custody, which told his version of the confrontation.
Here is a transcription of Dasche written statement. As with similar statements that I’ve posted by Jeffrey Conroy and Kevin Shea, I tried to retain the original grammar and spelling. The paragraph breaks, however, are my own (the original document only has five or six paragraph breaks). Scroll down for images of the written confession.

Witness: Ronald C. Tavares Det. 1157
I, Jordan R. Dasche, [being duly sworn deposes and] say(s):
I am 17 yrs old born on 2/19/91 in Plainview Hospital. I live [at] 5 Lyndsie Court in Medford. I am in the 12th grade in Patchogue-Medford H.S. My home phone number is 631-XXX-XXXX. My cell phone # XXX-XXXX (631).
Yesterday on 11/8/08 at about 10pm I met up with some friends at Medford Train Station. I was with Jeff Conroy, Jose Pacheco, Anthony Hartford, Nick Hausch, Kevin Shea, and a kid named Chris who just started going to my school. All of the other guys go to my school.
There were some girls there too who were from my school but I don’t know their names. We all then went to the South Haven Park to hang out (see page 2).

A couple of my friends drank a few beers. I didn’t drink because I was driving. I was driving my 1996 Red 4door Jimmy. I don’t remember who brought it up but someone said let’s go find some “beaners” to fight. “Beaners” is a word that we use to refer to Mexicans.
Then all the guys started saying let’s go find some “Beaners.” So I agreed to drive because I had my car. I asked where the guys wanted to go and someone said to go to Patchogue because Patchogue has a lot of Mexicans there.
We all got in my car. I drove, Anthony Hartford sat next to me in the front. In the back seat was Chris, Jose, Jeff and Kevin. Nick was sitting in the trunk area. On the ride to Patchogue I had the music blasting and I didn’t hear anyone talking in the car.
I parked my car in the lot by the Brick House Brewery and the fire department. We all got out and started walking to Main Street to look for some “Beaners.” We then started to walk down Rail Road Ave.
That is when we saw two Mexican guys. They seemed to be a little older. Kevin, Joe, and Anthony stopped the Mexicans and started having words with them. I don’t know what they said but I knew my friends wanted to fight the Mexicans.
That is when I moved back a little because I didn’t want to fight.. I had back surgery last year. My friends started fist fighting the Mexicans. I saw one of the Mexican guys take his shirt off to fight back. The other Mexican took off his belt and swinging it around to protect himself. One of the Mexicans called my friend Jose a “Black Pussy.” (See Page 3)
PAGE 3/4
Jose yelled at the guy something like what did you call me. Jose and the guy were arguing. Nick, Jeff, Anthony, Kevin and Jose were around the Mexican guys in a half circle. I saw Kevin throw one punch during the fight.
Then the Mexican guys were swinging their belts around to keep my friends away. Nick was swinging his jacket around at the belts.
After a minute the fight stopped. Me and my friends started walking away. The Mexican guy that called Jose a “Black Pussy” yelled at us that he has been in this country 20 years.
We all walked up Rail Road Ave towards Main Street. That’s when Kevin said he punched one of the Mexicans in the face. He actually said he snuffed the guy in the face. Snuffed means punched. Jeff Conroy started saying we all have to get outta here. We started back to my car and shortly after that the police stopped us on Main Street.
Yesterday morning at about 5:00am I was again walking around in Patchogue. I was with Nick Hausch and Nick Lauria. Nick Lauria also goes to my school. As we were walking on Academy Street we saw a Mexican guy. I think the guy was in his Twenties.
We had words with the guy and he wanted to fight. So Nick Hausch agreed to fight him with no weapons. When the fight began the Mexican guy grabbed a bottle broke it on the curb and started to go after Nick Hauser [sic].
That is when I took my BB gun and shot the Mexican three times to protect my friend. The Mexican guy ran to a house. We got in my car and drove away.
I figured the guy would probably call the police so I threw the BB gun into the woods by the train tracks.

I then drove to the train station and parked. About ten minutes later the police came and looked for the gun and questioned us about the fight and me shooting the guy with the BB gun.
We lied and told the police we didn’t do anything. The police took our names and told us to go home.
The only time I ever did something like this was last week. Me, Anthony Hartford, Kevin Shea + Nick Hausch drove in my car to Patchogue to look for some “Beaners” to fight. It was my first time.
We were supposed to fight the “Beaners” one on one. That night we didn’t find any and we all went home. Also after I put my BB gun by the tracks I later went back and got it and it is now in my car.
I have read this four page written statement which I have given to Det. Leser and I swear it is all true and correct.
