New American Media reports that Joselo Lucero, the brother of slain immigrant Joselo Lucero is receiving messages of support from high school students in New York City. Here is an excerpt:

One group of supporters are the students in Julie Mann’s human rights class at Newcomers High School. Most of them immigrants themselves, they have been following the story of Marcelo’s hate killing, and decided to send messages to Joselo to let him know he is not alone.
Here’s part of the message sent by Chengkai, a student from China: “Please open your mind, don’t let the hate and anger take your heart and blind your eyes. Good lucky boy, maybe you can do something that can help all immigrant students that improve their social place. I hope you can see the light, and don’t forget, we, the whole immigrant student group will support you and can go with you.”

I want to urge you to go to the trial to support the Lucero family. The courtroom, on the third floor of the county courthouse in Riverhead, is open to the public. Most days it is half empty and you can go for a full day, or just an hour. Ask the guard on the third floor for Judge Robert Doyle’s courtroom and you’ll be directed to the Lucero trial.

When you go, let Joselo know you came for his family.
