The wave of events favoring immigration reform continued throughout the Martin Luther King Day weekend. One of the most touching was a “coming out party” in Chicago where a dozen successful students revealed that they were undocumented. They are part of a new wave of activist youth who have grown up in the United States and been educated here, but who have no way of enjoying the American dream.
Meanwhile, the Trail of Dreams walk from Miami to Washington, begun two weeks ago by four students, has reached St. Augustine , Florida.
The largest anti-immigrant counter rally was organized by the Minutemen in Santa Clara, California. The event drew 125 people. Most other counter-rallies saw just a handful turn up.
