Media blitz for immigration reform planned

Immigrant organizations are expected to launch an $18 million media and grass roots outreach effort in the Fall in support of comprehensive immigration reform. This will be the largest and most professional effort to reach out to the mainstream by immigrant rights groups in American history.
The media blitz will be timed to the introduction of the Obama administration’s comprehensive immigration reform proposal and will be funded by a number of foundations and philanthropists including George Soros. It is designed to counter the problem advocates encountered during the failed 2007 reform effort when anti-immigrant groups like the Minutemen dominated the airwaves.
