Two young men who received less than a year in jail from a local court after their assault resulted in the death of Luis Ramirez, have been ordered held without bail by a Federal judge.
Brandon Piekarsky and Derrick Donchak are charged with Federal hate crime and civil rights violations for the attack in 2008 in the small town of Shenandoah, Pa.
Judge Malachy Mannion described the two young men as dangers to the community and ordered them held without bail. He noted that one of the accused is said to have kicked in the head of the unconscious Ramirez “as if you were kicking a field goal.”
