Minuteman National Leader Gets Only 4% In Poll

Chris Simcox, co-founder of the Minutemen and long-time head of Minuteman Civil Defense Corps, is challenging John McCain in the Arizona Republican primary. Simcox has appeared regularly on FOX News and has been depicted as a hero on the now-defunct Lou Dobbs show.
Simcox was a guiding figure in the development of the anti-immigrant Sachem Quality of Life organization on Long Island and his local Minuteman affiliate has worked in support of Suffolk County Executive Steve Levy.
Simcox parlayed his fame into fundraising bucks and recently decided to run for office. Unfortunately for Simcox, while McCain is in trouble, it isn’t from the Minutemen. Although Simcox is the only major candidate running against McCain to be the Republican Senate candidate, and McCain himself has less than 50% support among Republicans, Simcox is still drawing a paltry 4% support in the most recent poll.
Simcox has not been helped by recently uncovered court papers from 2007 alleging that he had an abusive relationship with a much younger domestic partner. This echoes charges from another woman in his life. Nearly a decade ago he had been described by his first wife as a danger to his family.
Simcox’s connections to the Minuteman Murders is also causing problems.
