According to NBC News, Pacheco was asked by the prosecutor:
“Were all seven of you walking the streets looking for an Hispanic man?”
“Yes,” Pacheco responded.
Newsday reports that “prosecutors asked him to repeat some of the statements the group of teenagers made as they set out the night of Nov. 8, 2008. Pacheco said, “Let’s go beat up a Mexican,” he testified.”
District Attorney Thomas Spota told NBC:
“These were marauders,” Spota said, “bent on attacking Hispanics.”
