Early today, I posted video clips for the November 7 vigil commemorating the second anniversary of the death of Marcelo Lucero. Over 200 people attended the event, where the area of the attack on Lucero was renamed “Unity Place,” and Marcelo’s brother Joselo called for community members to work toward peace.

For those interested in donating in his brother’s name, Joselo Lucero mentioned a scholarship program for teens working in the community that he helped start at Patchogue-Medford High School. You can contact the school for more information.

Here’s a slideshow with photos from the event. Scroll down for some select images as well as a slideshow of the messages written on the “wall of hope.”

Joselo Lucero listens as Fernando Mateo speaks at the vigil.
