Newsday’s court reporter Carl MacGowan has an update on the trial of Jeffrey Conroy, accused of stabbing and killing Marcelo Lucero in Patchogue in November 2008.
Here’s MacGowan’s preview of what he anticipates happening in court today:
Suffolk crime scene investigators were expected to take the witness stand Thursday in Riverhead on the sixth day of testimony in the Jeffrey Conroy murder and manslaughter trial.
Police and detectives were expected to display photographs taken in Patchogue on Nov. 8, 2008, when prosecutors say Conroy, 19, of Medford, fatally stabbed Ecuadorean immigrant Marcelo Lucero during a wave of hate-crime attacks on Latinos.
Thursday’s police testimony follows a dramatic day Wednesday, when Lucero’s friend, Angel Loja, 37, formerly of Patchogue, took the stand and spoke publicly for the first time about the night Lucero was killed.
