Raw Video of the Anti-Muslim Tea Party at Ground Zero

Sunday’s disgraceful anti-Muslim rally at Ground Zero has attracted a lot of attention because of the mobbing of a man named Kenny whom the crowd took to be a Muslim. Makes you wonder if the man had really been Muslim if it would have gotten the same media notice.

I’ve assembled a bunch of video of the event, some of which was put up by supporters of the rally, just so you can see what went on there.

In this first piece of video, Kenny is followed by some of the anti-Muslim ralliers, who shout at him. Dozens turn to face Kenny, chanting “No Mosque Here” at him. One organizer at the rally tried to halt a man in a hardhat who appears bent on confrontation. Another person in the crowd sees the two tea partiers arguing and urges them to stop, saying, “We’re against the Muslims, not each other.” The intervenor explains to his fellow ralliers that he is trying to stop them from mobbing Kenny because the media “is going to try to make it look like we’re a bunch of racists.” As Kenny tries to exit the crowd, a man yells out, “He must have voted for Obama.” A plainclothes police officer leads Kenny out of danger as a rallier screams at Kenny that “Mohamed is a pig.”

Next is video of one of the speakers from the podium who gets the crowd riled up by asking why more Muslims didn’t participate in the American Revolution. No, she really does.

Here is what she says:

How many Muslims signed the Declaration of Independence? [Crowd] None.
Or the Constitution? [Crowd] None.
How many Muslims fought in our War of Independence? [Crowd] None.
How many Muslims financially supported the birth of this nation? [Crowd] None.
Zero. That’s right.

I don’t recall there being any black or female signers of the Declaration of Independence. Not sure how many Jewish Founding Fathers there were, either. There were two Catholics, but neither was Italian, or Polish. Good to know that the protections of America don’t belong to any of these layabouts who decided to sit the Revolution out.

Anyway, here is the video of this excursion into the celestial realm of nutty bigotry:

Some raw footage of the speakers is in the next video and an odd interlude when the crowd is asked to sing the old civil rights anthem, “We Shall Not be Moved.” The overwhelmingly white tea partiers appear completely unfamiliar with the song and look on bemused:

Next is an overview of the rally put up by one of its participants. You can hear one of the podium speakers tell the crowd that Obama is the “president for the Muslims only.” A woman says the fight against the Islamic center is part of a “fight for freedom.” Here are a few of the comments from those in the audience:

[The Islamic center] is an effort on the part of the Muslims to rub our Constitution in our faces and to deny us the freedoms.

This is our country and yet they are going to destroy us. They’re taking over. President Obama shouldn’t be letting them do that to us. He’s probably Muslim

They are letting them destroy us..
