Rumors of the Next Move in Arizona

With SB 1070 on hold, anti-immigrant forces in Arizona are meeting to gear up for the next stage in the battle against Latinos, but no one is saying exactly what is up. When asked about it by reporters they just say they know nothing.

We know that the folks around Arizona State Senator Russell Pearce, the sponsor of SB 1070, have talked about denying birth certificates to the children of undocumented immigrants as a way of denying them proof that they were born here. Now the rumor is that Pearce intends to introduce a bill denying Arizona state citizenship to kids born here to undocumented parents, according to the Arizona Republic. In other words, a child born in Tucson would be a citizen of the US but not of Arizona.

Sounds wacky enough that it could be true.
