Steve Levy apologizes for getting caught

Suffolk County Executive Steve Levy has issued an apology for a statement he made Tuesday saying that if the Lucero murder had occured in Nassau County it would have just been a “one day story”. His apology did not come right after he made the grossly insensitive remark which implies that the killing of a mere alien by a mob is beneath the interest of Long Islanders. Nor did he apologize the next day when it was published. He only apologized today after he was castigated in the media.
Levy has spent the last four days blaming the media for inflating the seriousness of the crime that was committed against Marcello Lucero. It should have been a one day wonder, in his estimation apparently. Now he has apologized for uttering his thoughts, but not for fostering the sort of disrespect for immigrants that his remark so callously displayed.
