They’ve Got Sole: #li2dc Approaching Aberdeen, Delaware

A trio of day labor advocates who left Hempstead on foot last Friday are approaching Aberdeen, Delaware, as evening falls. But their journey from Long Island won’t end there.

The walkers, two of whom are from The Workplace Project, a laborer rights organization based in Hempstead, have battled through rain, winds, and many miles—with only hospitality and the occasional McDonald’s extra value meal as their reprieve—all to promote a March 21 immigration reform rally in Washington, D.C.

Two hundred buses from New York State have been confirmed for the rally, but the walkers are hoping to make an impact in the towns and cities that they pass through along the way, and raise awareness for the rally and for immigration reform.
