The prosecution will likely call Octavio Cordovo to the stand today in the trial of Jeffrey Conroy, who is accused of stabbing and killing Ecuadorian immigrant Marcelo Lucero.
Cordovo was allegedly attacked by Conroy just days before the alleged attack on Lucero.
Here’s a preview from Newsday’s Carl MacGowan:
Jurors hearing the Jeffrey Conroy murder trial in Riverhead were expected to hear testimony Tuesday about Conroy’s alleged participation in an attack on a Hispanic man days before Conroy allegedly stabbed Marcelo Lucero to death.
Octavio Cordovo, who authorities say was accosted by Conroy and several other teenagers on Nov. 3, 2008, was one of several prosecution witnesses expected to take the stand in Conroy’s trial in Suffolk County Court.
Police and at least one witness to the alleged attack in Medford also were expected to testify.
Prosecutors say the alleged attack on Cordova [sic] was part of a yearlong spree of assaults on Latinos by Conroy and six former Patchogue-Medford High School students.
