Marcus Epstein, the Tom Tancredo aide and co-founder of Youth for Western Civilization may have seen his law school career fly out the window. Although he touts himself as an in-coming first year student at the University of Virginia, the school says he will not be entering in the Fall. This may have to do with his guilty plea to attacking an African American woman while shouting racial slurs at her on a D.C. street.
Here is what the local paper in Charlottesville, Va., where the University is located, had to say about the matter:
At least two news Web sites — the Washington Independent and Talking Points Memo — reported revelations about Epstein’s case on Monday.
The sites, along with Epstein’s own Facebook page, said that he was going to attend grad school at UVa as part of the class of 2012. Bay Buchanan, who co-chairs the PAC with Tancredo, told the Washington Independent that Epstein would be attending UVa’s law school and that he had turned his life around since the incident two years ago.
After news about the case broke Monday, a UVa law school spokesman said that Epstein would not be attending classes this fall or in the future.
“We have pretty strict privacy policies, but what I can tell you is that he is not a student at UVa and I have no reason to believe that he ever will be,” said Jason Wu Trujillo, senior assistant dean for admissions and financial aid at UVa’s law school.
Epstein has been defended by Pat Buchanan’s sister Bay and heads an organization chaired by the brother and sister team. Bay Buchanan has defended Epstein saying the attack was “out of character”. He has a short history of physical attacks, but a very long history of involvement with a racist ideology.
Oh the irony of Tom Tancredo and Pat Buchanan comparing Judge Sotomayor to a Klansman when they had the genuine article on the payroll.
