Youth For Western Civilization and the “Leftists” of Liberty University
The anti-immigrant group Youth For Western Civilization has a new target-The “Leftists” at Liberty University. Youth for Western Civ’s blog describes the appalling reaction of the school to the self-proclaimed Right Wing Youth Movement, saying they were:
being shunned, slandered, and having our names dragged in the mud by leftist and libertarian radicals and having continually dealt with a wishy-washy administration that will neither approve nor deny YWC’s existence on LU’s campus
Now you may not know what Liberty University is. So let me tell you.
Liberty University is a an Evangelical Christian university in Lynchburg, Virginia. It was founded in 1971 by Jerry Falwell, the late head of the Moral Majority and a lynchpin of the Christian Right. Students at the school are forced to attend thrice weekly “convocations”, more like conservative indoctrination sessions where speakers such as the following hold forth:
John McCain, President Ronald Reagan, President George H. W. Bush, Rev. Billy Graham, Col. Oliver North, Steve Forbes, Former US Senator from North Carolina Jesse Helms, Sam Donaldson, creationist Ken Ham, governor Tim Kaine, Sean Hannity, Bobby Bowden, Carrie Prejean, (pro-wrestler) Lex Luger and 2008 Presidential Candidates Mike Huckabee and Ron Paul. Jerry Falwell regularly spoke at chapel, giving his “Never Give Up” speech in the first semester.

How conservative is the school? Students can be reprimanded for attending dances, viewing R-rated movies, viewing pornography, or entering the room of a member of the opposite sex.
Until recently, students could not wear capri pants to class.
Note to Youth for Western Civilization: If you don’t fit in at America’s most conservative college campus, it’s you!
