Free Spring Cultural Festival in Brentwood, May 23

FREE COMMUNITY ARTS FESTIVAL ON MAY 23, 2010
Brentwood, N.Y.—The experimental performance group Teatro Yerbabruja is pleased to present their Annual Free Community Arts Festival this Sunday, May 23, 2010. The festival will run from noon-6pm and will take place in Ross Park, located at Brentwood Road and First Avenue, near the Brentwood train station.
Entry is free and the event is rain or shine.
The six-hour event will feature activities for kids and an art exhibition with the best paintings and visual arts of our artists on display. Those in attendance will also enjoy the the talent of musicians who will who show the diversity of our towns through their songs. You’ll hear reggae, reggaeton, rock latino, pop, Latin and modern jazz, folk, blues, as well as Latin and African dance, theater, and poetry.

The Truth Theatre Company
Copper Rose
Mercurio Reina
Sonido Clasico Jazz Band
Stone Ginger
Centro American Flow
Patchogue-Medford H.S. Latin Dance team
The biggest attraction of the our spring festival will be a presentation by the international sensation Pablo Mayor y Folklore Urbano (Urban Folklore). About the group, National Geographic said, “This band is composed of 12 talented musicians, a fresh and attractive innovation from the growing Colombian music scene.
Teatro Yerbabruja is a non-profit organization that has spent 6 years working in the Brentwood and Central Islip communities, whose principal mission is to use the arts and a diversity of programs as a means to achieve constructive social change in Long Island communities. Part of this mission is carried out in free festivals with diverse audiences that gather together to see and listen to local artists and experience other cultures.
Teatro Yerbabruja also invites the community to attend the Latino Rock Summer Festival that will take place on August 15 in the same park and at the same time.
These events would not be possible without the support of our friends and partners: New York State Senator Brian X. Foley, Assemblyman Phil Ramos, Suffolk County Legislator Ricardo Montano, the Suffolk County Office of Cultural Affairs, and the Long Island Community Foundation.

El Teatro Experimental Yerbabruja, Inc, se complace en presentar su Festival Anual de Primavera, este domingo 23 de mayo de 2010, desde el mediodía hasta las 6 de la tarde en Ross Park, ubicado en Brentwood Road y 1st. Avenue, muy cerca de la estación de tren de Brentwood.
La entrada es completamente gratis. El festival se llevará aún en caso de lluvia.
Durante estas seis horas habrá actividades infantiles y una exposición de arte donde se mostrarán los mejores trabajos de nuestros pintores y otros artistas de artes visuales. El público asistente podrá disfrutar del talento de artistas invitados que a través de sus canciones mostrarán la diversidad cultural de nuestros pueblos, donde se incluye el reggae, reggaeton, rock latino / pop, latina y modern jazz, folk / blues, latin y danza africana, teatro y poesía. Estos artistas son:

La atracción principal de nuestro festival de primavera será la presentación de la sensación internacional Pablo Mayor y Folklore Urbano. Sobre estos artistas, National Geographic expresa: “Esta banda compuesta por 12 talentosos músicos, es una fresca y atractiva novedad de la floreciente escena de la nueva música de Colombia.”
Teatro Yerbabruja es una organización sin fines de lucro, que lleva 6 años trabajando con la comunidad de Brentwood y Central Islip, cuya misión principal es utilizar las artes en sus diversos programas, como un medio para lograr el cambio social constructivo en las comunidades de Long Island. Parte de esa misión es llevar a cabo festivales de entrada gratuita en la que diversas audiencias se reúnen para ver y escuchar a artistas locales y de otras culturas.
Teatro Yerbabruja invita desde ya a toda la comunidad para que asista al Festival de Rock Latino de Verano que se llevará a cabo el próximo 15 de agosto en el mismo parque y desde la misma hora.
