Home > Features > Action Alert: Rally Against Arizona Immigration Law at MLB Headquarters in NYC, 7/8/10
In response to Arizona’s draconian immigration law, SB 1070, people around the country are boycotting the Grand Canyon State, an economic protest that has already resulted in an estimated $6-10 million in lost tourist revenue. Click here to sign our petition regarding the law.
One of the major initiatives of the boycott is a call to relocate the 2011 Major League Baseball All Star Game, which is schedule to be played in Phoenix at Chase Field, the home of the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Ken Kendrick, the owners of the Diamondbacks, is a big financial supporter of the Republican Party in Arizona, and has links to politicians who support SB 1070. He even held a private fundraiser during a D-Backs game for a state senator who backs the law.
With that in mind, there will be a rally in front of Major League Baseball’s Midtown Manhattan headquarters on Thursday, July 8, calling for the 2011 MLB All Star Game to be moved to another location.
Here are the details on the rally from the organizers, The New York Immigration Coalition:
