An initiative of Long Island Wins&#133
“… is a collaboration of concerned Long Islanders from all walks of life - business, law enforcement, community and faith - who are proud that Long Island is a welcoming community”
“… is forming Welcoming Committees in Port Jefferson and Riverhead that are the ‘nerve centers’ for Welcoming Long Island. They will become strong resources within the community for individuals who wish to improve the climate for immigrants in their town.”

As in years past, new immigration to Long Island is bringing exciting opportunities and new neighbors as well as challenges for our communities. In response to requests from local communities, Long Island Wins is working together with residents of Port Jefferson and other towns to ensure that they remain places that welcome and appreciate newcomers from other countries.
We hope to build a very simple, values-based campaign that highlights the beneficial role of immigrants in our communities and in the country. This is an opportunity to get back to basic community values and to have fun building a strong and shared community in Port Jefferson.
We need input and participation directly from Port Jefferson residents; native-born as well as newcomers!
