A few weeks ago, I wrote a short post about why outreach to immigrant communities will matter during the upcoming 2010 Census (mailers go out in March).
The census can help you and your community in many ways. Improved political representation, more money for infrastructure projects, and increased school funding are just a few examples. For a form that takes 10 minutes to fill out, it can have weighty consequences.
Still not sold on the census? Ooooo-Kay.
How about 25 free downloads from iTunes, including tracks by Pitbull, Morrissey, and Mos Def? That’s always the deal breaker.
Voto Latino —a non-profit geared at increasing the civic participation of Latino youth—is handing out the tunes as part of “Be Counted, Represent,” an effort to increase census-awareness for Latinos in places like Los Angeles, where they’ve been historically undercounted.
The free music downloads come after you take a pledge to participate in the census, so pledge away.
